Each Made to Order piece is an original, contemporary artwork
that captures the beauty of reclaimed material.
We will work closely with you throughout the design process to create your custom artwork. Starting with your inspiration, we can create original art pieces or variations of our existing works.
Laurel Messina, our Creative Director, will collaborate with you on color palette, composition, and proportion. Unique fabrics and textiles will then be sourced to match the shared vision.
Made to Order Process
After the sourcing process, a sketch is done to visualize the final artwork incorporating the selected fabrics.
Each piece is cut and laid out by hand to determine the final composition. Then the artwork is felted first by hand and then by machine to fix the design in place.
The felting process distresses the fibers and blends them together to create an effect that falls somewhere between painting and quilting. The final product maintains the tactility and the individual textures of the fabrics.
All Kindred Matter artworks come with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
Mounting & Framing
We can arrange framing and mounting for your custom art piece.
Many of our artworks are designed to be free hanging with a hidden tunnel and bar. There are many bar styles available, from invisible, or custom metal and wood options to suit your style.
We can also work with a local frame shop to coordinate professional framing and mounting to suit the artwork and your needs.
