Inspired by wind-swept juniper trees on the shore of Lake Champlain, in Laurel's home state of Vermont. Created in multiple layers, the branches and a grey background were felted first, followed by the addition of the delicate leaf forms. This artwork is a study for a larger tapestry.
This piece has been 'framed' with a dark green velvet fabric border. The back is unfisnished.
Created using reclaimed fabric from the fashion industry, each textile artwork is a one-of-a-kind composition. Fabrics are carefully chosen for their texture and color, then hand-cut, arranged, and felted into a richly layered design.
